Conference: Whole Institutional Approaches to Sustainability

This event will bring together diverse stakeholders to explore whole-institutional approaches (WIA) to sustainability, test and refine the new WIA Toolkit, and advance the WIA Policy Framework. Both the Toolkit and the Policy Framework are being developed under the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Together, they aim to integrate sustainability across all layers of educational institutions, helping institutions align their practices with their values.

The objectives of this event are to:

• Facilitate peer learning and regional exchange of best practices in WIA.

• Reflect on the enabling conditions for WIA and its policy framework.

• Test selected tools from the forthcoming WIA Toolkit in practice.

• Collect structured feedback to refine the toolkit for international use.

• Identify additional tools to enrich the WIA Toolkit.

The WIA Toolkit is co-created under the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development by an international team of experts, coordinated by SME (Stichting Milieu Educatie), the executive organization of GDO (Gementee voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling), representing 140 nature and sustainability education centers in the Netherlands. The event is organized in collaboration with the Carpathian ESD Expert Network, ŠPIRÁLA (Network of Slovak Enviornmental Education Organizations), VyHUB (network of sustainability actors in the Vysočina region), and Montessori School Polná.
